Chow dogs are work dogs that the breeders usually start training before they leave the kennel.
These dogs are characterized by such physical features as black or blue tongue, dense smooth or rough coat, and straight hind legs. These are relatively quiet dogs that make very good guard dogs. They are smart, however, training them can be a challenge. They are independent and dignified.

This breed is a member of the utility group. Initially used as guard dogs, they were also utilized for pulling carts and as food. At present, they are used as pets and companions. Some specialists claim that there has been found evidence that the breed was developed somewhere in the 11th century BC.
